Independent Living Program

The Independent Living Program supports youth in the foster care system transition to adulthood.  The IL Program at Young Adult Services works with youth in foster care who live in King County.  Participants of the IL Program work one-on-one with a Resource Specialist to provide support with employment, education, housing, and life skills.

What are the eligibility requirements for the program?
If you have been in an open dependency action with Children’s Administration in foster care 30 days after your 15th birthday and have not turned 21, or are in Extended Foster Care, you may be eligible.

How can I get referred to the IL program?
Under 18
Either you can fill out a self-referral form, or a social worker can refer

Over 18
You can fill out a self-referral form, or a social worker can refer if you are in Extended Foster Care
