Thanks to the volunteers who joined the Y for the Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service, sponsored by United Way of King County!  Volunteers helped clean the Young Adults in Transition housing space, and created dozens of hand-made cards of encouragement and recognition for former foster youth and homeless youth. First report from National Youth in Transition Database reveals positive trends around education and supportive adult connections, and high involvement with criminal justice system.  Youth in the Y's Independent Living Program participated in the statewide survey. (Jan 2011)

Y receives $6,000 three-month homelessness prevention grant from the Emergency Food and Shelter Program at Solid Ground.  The grant provides one-month rental assistance to young adults to maintain housing and stabilize income. (Jan 2011)
